How each maker describes its technology
Technology labels follow the maker’s own words. Where a maker names both radar and cameras we call it hybrid; where it names one, we use that one.
| Model | Maker wording | Our label |
|---|---|---|
| Garmin Approach R10 | “radar features” | radar |
| Voice Caddie SC4 Pro | “Doppler Radar”, “K Band 24 GHz” | radar |
| Full Swing KIT | “24GHz Dual-Mode, ML Enhanced Radar” | radar |
| Rapsodo MLM2PRO | “Dual optical camera vision + radar processing” | hybrid |
| FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and Mevo+ | “Fusion Tracking combines Doppler radar and high-speed optics” | hybrid |
| SkyTrak+ | “Dual Doppler Radar and Photometric Camera” | hybrid |
| Trackman iO | “Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT)” | hybrid |
| Trackman 4 | “dual radar and camera technology” | hybrid |
| Garmin Approach R50 | “use internal cameras to record measurements” | photometric |
| Bushnell Launch Pro | “high speed/high resolution cameras with infrared” | photometric |
| Foresight GC3 and GCQuad | “advanced photometric technology” | photometric |
| Uneekor EYE MINI, LITE, XO2 | “photometric infrared cameras” (XO2) | photometric |
| Square Golf Home and Omni | “machine vision technology with high-speed camera” | photometric |
Where each type sits
Placement is the practical difference the pages state. It decides which part of the room the unit uses.
- Radar and hybrid units sit behind the tee. Garmin R10: “between 6 ft. and 8 ft. (1.8 m and 2.4 m) behind the tee location” (6–8 ft). Rapsodo: “6.5-8.5 feet directly behind the ball”. FlightScope Mevo+: “7-9 feet sensor to tee distance”. Voice Caddie SC4 Pro: “5 ft behind the ball” (1.5 m). Trackman 4: “requires space behind the ball for radar tracking”, with no figure.
- Camera units sit beside the ball or overhead. Garmin R50: “approximately 1.5 ft. (0.5 m) to the side of the tee location”. Uneekor EYE XO2: “Optimal Height When Mounted 10ft”. Trackman iO (radar and camera, overhead): “there are no minimum distance requirements in front of or behind the ball”.
- Ball flight. Where makers state a ball-flight distance, both types do: Garmin R10 “at least 8 ft.” (2.4 m), Rapsodo “8 feet”, Mevo Gen2 “8 feet ball flight” (limited flight) and Mevo+ “13 feet of ball flight recommended” (4 m). Bushnell states a room depth instead: “13 feet of depth to track ball flight”. Foresight, Garmin R50 and Square Golf state none.
Full figures by model are in the room size guide.
What spin and club data need
A device can list a metric and still require a marked ball, a sticker or a software tier. Only the maker’s statements are shown.
| Model | Spin | Club data |
|---|---|---|
| Rapsodo MLM2PRO | “Golf balls with RPT are required to show spin numbers.” | Club speed, path, attack angle listed |
| FlightScope Mevo+ | “metallic dots or Titleist RCT balls required for accurate spin measurements” | Full D-plane set in the paid Pro Package |
| FlightScope Mevo Gen2 | “Aluminum stickers or Titleist RCT balls required for accurate spin measurements.” | Club speed, smash factor, angle of attack |
| Full Swing KIT | Titleist RCT integration for indoor spin (EU page) | Within the 16 points of data |
| Garmin Approach R50 | “measured spin rate and spin axis” (press release, medium) | Club sticker needed |
| Garmin Approach R10 | Pending (retailer sheet only) | Pending |
| Bushnell Launch Pro | No marked ball stated | “*CLUB DATA REQUIRES A SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION” |
| Foresight GC3 | No marked ball stated | An upgrade (bundle page, medium) |
| Uneekor EYE MINI, XO2 | Any ball (Dimple Optix) | “Club stickers required” (MINI); recommended (XO2) |
| Square Golf Home | “Dedicated marking ball” | Shaft marker |
| Square Golf Omni | “Marker-free dimple tracking” | Optional club markers |
| Trackman iO | “No markers required on club or ball” | Home: club speed only; higher packages: full set |
| SkyTrak+ | No marked ball stated | Listed; no marker stated |
A listed parameter is a claim on a spec page, not a measured result. This site makes no statement about which technology measures spin better indoors.
Subscriptions and software
Technology does not decide the subscription. Both camps include products whose makers state no subscription (FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and Mevo+, Square Golf) and products with tiers (Bushnell, Uneekor, SkyTrak, Rapsodo, Garmin, Trackman). The details are in the subscriptions guide.
